Prince of Wales Park

Project Overview

Kaitiaki o Ngahere was contracted by Wellington City Council to carry out revegetation and additional pest plant weed control in Prince of Wales Park, along Hutchinson Road and the Southern Walkway, Wellington.

This section of the park was once dominated by old pine and macrocarpa trees, which were damaged in the July 2013 and 2017 storm, and subsequently felled and chipped. This area has since been planted, with the site receiving 4,000 plants in 2018, on top of receiving up to 5000 plants annually since 2015.

A few years on, the planted trees have been established successfully, and will hopefully form a canopy in the coming years, which has already occurred in the first planted area.
